This survey explored the potential for wildlife at school grounds and their neighbourhoods throughout Bristol and Avon. Aimed at primary school children and their teachers, high response rates were obtained with a visually engaging format whilst being promoted throughout different channels: partnership working, the media, launch event and email newsletters. It was delivered online as a downloadable PDF and printed on demand to save the environment. It offered a fun, educational and multi-sensory way for children to connect with their school grounds, as well as directly linking to the national curriculum. It was easy to complete and included qualitative elements such as drawing and group discussion. Results informed the ongoing Bristol Biodiversity Action Plan as well as promoting the charity’s delivery of free school services.
